They can see if it works well with their feed reader or browser. I think you should do a test strip in several widths and see how readers react. It will drive away potential viewers, IMO; making things fit to 800x600 is a pain, but you gotta do it. I don’t recommend it. A little larger would probably be fine, but be cautious. I have a widescreen monitor with a huge resolution, as many people do. But being a geek (as I'm sure many of your readers are) I NEVER browse maximized for general surfing and web-comic reading. Just because the stats say 1024x768 doesn't mean you have anywhere near an effective 1024w to work with. I think your current layout and comic size is pretty good. One with the big version and other with the small version. I'd choose the first one. Please make *two* feeds! One with the big version and other with the small version. I’d choose the first one.

On the contrary, the browser window is usually taking up about half to two thirds of the screen swidth, giving place for a terminal next to it. Even on my (new and shiny) 1900x1200 desktop monitor my browser width is currently 869 pixels. On my laptop with a 1400x1050 resolution the browser window is, naturally, even narrower. In conclusion, I wouldn't be very happy with the strip being 900 pixels wide. Of course, it's also not really that important - I'll live happily either way. :-) While my screen resolution is high, I never have my browser window maximized.
