Official iPhone App and “Software I use” t-shirt

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Hello all! Thanks to the efforts of ObjectGraph LCC, you can now read Geek Hero offline, wherever you are, and show your friends too! They have made a very nice iPhone / iPod Touch application, that contains some of the early episodes. So far Volume 1 has been released, which contains the first 21 strips. And guess what? It’s free! Go grab it from here!

In other news, I have finally found the time to make that t-shirt somebody was wishing for, i.e. the one inspired by this strip. The price is $19.99, and this is really the cheapest I can go. Go check it out here!

Vladimir’s wig

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

Hi all, now that Boris came out in the open, and back to his true identity, he agreed to give me his wig, which I can sell to the best bidder. This is a very exclusive piece of art, personally manufactured by Boris during his research to imitate human tissue and hair, so his robots could better infiltrate the Project Managers.

The starting price for this item is $10000. Here’s a thumbnail of the picture that links to a 3000 pixel wide image. Please use the comments to this post to make your bid!boris-wig-small

This is my first ever digital painting. Done completely in The Gimp, using a frame from the exclusive clip of Terminator Salvation as a reference. Let me know what you think!

Glitchtown: a webcomic that deserves some credit

Sunday, May 10th, 2009

Hello,
I would like to say a word or two about a very nice comic I’ve been reading, and it’s not Geek Hero!

Rasmus Pettersson writes Glitchtown, a brilliant take on a geeky world with some good Windows/Linux/OSX jokes, involving vira and worms. I love the art and the pleasant atmosphere that this comic carries upon.

Highly recommended!

A Wonderful Present

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

So, today is my birthday, and I got an amazing present from my girlfriend Tanja. Ok, ok, fiancée (she’s reading!). Anyway, it looks like she’s worked like crazy to put together a little book with the first year of Geek Hero! Can you imagine that?

Check some pictures (click for larger version):

Sorry about the bad quality of the pictures, I still need to get a new camera at some point.

Anyway, the idea of a book for Geek Hero actually sounds great. Having it in my hands feels really good, so I think soon I should make one. Would you guys be interested? I should try to squeeze in some extras, some written stories from the Geek Hero’s Universe, an autograph, things like these.

Let me know. And let me know if you want to send flowers to Tanja for when her birthday comes :-)

Geek Hero in German

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Hello everybody, I’m glad to announce that thanks to the hard work of the guys from http://www.linux-community.de/, Geek Hero is now offered in German on their site. They’re just starting, so they’re a bit behind, but will publish the comics faster, in order to catch up soon.

We can consider this as an official and supported translation effort, as they do the translation and I take care of remaking the strips.

So a big welcome and thanks to http://www.linux-community.de/!

Sci-Fi movies mesh-ups

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

I just resurrected an old thought of mine. Long ago, it came to my mind that the movie industry has been disappointing me. I love movies featuring:

  • Aliens
  • Robots
  • Dinosaurs
  • Zombies
  • Time travel

in no particular order.

Whereas we have some mesh-ups, such as time traveling robots (Terminator) and alien robots (Transformers) can somebody tell me why we don’t have:

  • Time traveling aliens
  • Zombies from the future
  • Zombie aliens from the future
  • Robotic dinosaurs

I want all the combinations, until the final movie will come out:

ROBOTIC ZOMBIE DINOSAURS FROM THE FUTURE AND FROM OUTER SPACE!

Now, what can we do to make this happen and who is with me?
